Conflicting Superstitions
Posted by WIWAM in Humans/Society/Family, Religion/Holidays/Traditions on July 9th, 2010
NHL goalie Ryan Miller has a superstition: he has to be the last person off the ice after practice. I don’t know why he has this superstition. Perhaps his brother was the second to last person off the ice one practice and was murdered by the last person off of the ice. That would be my guess. Anyway, what if there was another player that had the exact same superstition and was traded to or signed with Ryan Miller’s team? Superstitions can be taken pretty seriously in sports, so this could really become a big deal to these guys. Would their conflicting superstitions prevent one of them from signing with the other’s team? How would they handle this if they ended up on the same team? Would they try to leave the ice at the exact same time? Would one of them create a new superstition? This needs to be answered.

Wasted Resources

In general I have a big problem with holidays, but Independence Day is in my top 5 of retarded holidays. In other countries Independence Day is a celebration of escaping from persecution, murder, genocide, etc. In this country we make believe that we were escaping from one or all of those horrible situations. We were not. We love to play the victim here in America. Anyway, as part of this Independence Day tradition we like to waste millions of dollars in resources making things explode in the sky. Granted, fireworks have a definite entertainment value and it is not my intent to ruin or dissolve all the fun on the planet, but what if we took all the money the country spent on fireworks each year and used it to help solve an actual problem. Not to mention the countless number of Americans who blow parts of themselves up or off and have to receive inordinate sums of valuable medical resources getting stitched back together. The hidden costs go far beyond explosives. As usual, the verdict is in and it screams loudly that Independence Day is a big waste, an attempt by America and Americans to show off their big dick.
Santa Is Very Bright

Something that has always bothered me, and it comes down to our excessive behavior as a country is the amount of electricity, time and effort spent on decorations for holidays. The big culprit obviously being Christmas, and Christmas decorations. Given the adeptness of this parasite known as humanity in destroying environments, you’d think we’d have learned by now that it may not be an effective use of our very limited resources to light up every Christian house in the country with every light in the country. It comes down to selfishness, as it always does. People believe that they are entitled to do what they want simply because it is legal. If they can pay for it, they can do it. That’s the exact attitude and reasoning that has been the downfall of this country in recent memory. A sense of entitlement and no sense of the greater good and bigger picture. I hope you all fall off of the fucking roof and get electrocuted installing your over-sized Santa.

Theistic Opposites

Are there such people who refer to themselves as unorthodox Jews? Do they go out of their way to reject and break the tradition of their Orthodox Jew counterparts? Is someone who is not an Orthodox Jew automatically an unorthodox Jew? Do they go to Synagogue at all the times an Orthodox Jew does not, or do they simply stay home and remove themselves from Judaism completely? Do they only eat pork and wear white clothing? Perhaps they only eat leavened bread and celebrate 16 days of Hanukkah. If they come into contact with an Orthodox Jew will they both disappear into nothingness?
Fish Fight

I very much dislike bumper stickers, magnets, etc. on the back of cars but I do enjoy the fact that I’m starting to see more and more “darwin fish” than ever before. I also enjoy that the darwin fish has little feet to signify evolution taking place. Way to fight back against the evil “jesus fish”, darwin fish.
Blowjobs For God

Obviously God and Heaven don’t exist but making believe for a second that they did, would you give God a blowjob to get in? Obviously homosexual men and heterosexual women would be at a distinct advantage. What if they had to go down on God’s wife? That might make it more fair for the heterosexual men and homosexual women. I’d think it’s a no-brainer, you have to do it.
Jesus Car

Recently I saw a car on the road which had a license plate frame that read, “Born Again Auto”. Do we really have automotive dealerships catering exclusively to born-again Christians? It seems to me like they’re really missing out on a lot of customers who do not share their beliefs. If this business venture is truly successful I should maybe consider opening the first Atheist Auto. If you have an absence of belief that the car you want to buy exists then you get $500 off.
