Sports Resemblances

Basketball and basketball players remind me of the old NES game, Ice Hockey. In Ice Hockey you had your skinny fast players, your medium-sized versatile players and your fat, slow and powerful players. You got to choose a combination of players based upon your opponents line-up. Just like basketball. The end.

People Don’t Listen

Most of the time I won’t fight hard to defend an argument or a point I am making, especially when I’m arguing with someone who only wants to fight and doesn’t care about the content. However, I fight pretty hard when idiots tell me I’m a gambler just because I play poker. Now, I’ll give you that the definition of gambling certainly would support these claims. That being said, when the word gambling is usually used it’s done so in a way that implies taking a risk that has less than a 50% chance of coming through. However in poker, skill when applied consistently determines the percentage of your return. It really shows a lack of understanding about the game of poker to say such things. I’m not a great poker player, but I have studied a large number of hours to become good enough to be a winner at low to medium stakes. To call me a gambler is unjust considering the work and time I put into the game. Poker is largely a game of skill and if generalize and call me a gambler, I call you an idiot.
Man or Woman?

One of my favorite games to play is, “Man or Woman?” It’s a game I made up that can only be played when you see a gender ambiguous person. The person may have very short hair, you might have a bad angle on the them, they’re far away or they’re just too damn fat to determine their sex from a quick glance. You point them out to your friends around you and you all get a guess as to what gender they are! This game gets to be played more often than you think.
Crossword Fright

The one problem I have with the newspaper crossword puzzles is that they have predictable difficulty levels depending on the day. We know Monday and Tuesday will be the easiest and it will get progressively more difficult as the week goes on. I think the difficulty level should be completely random. Then there would be no reason to be scared of Friday.
Magic 8-Ball

One of my coworkers keeps a Magic 8-Ball on his desk and sometimes I’ll pick it up without asking any questions to see what it says. I like to think that it is answering questions I have in my subconscious and that there is a deeper discussion happening between the depths of my brain and the Magic 8-Ball. More than likely it’s a random side of a 20 sided die submerged in liquid.
